Some terms explained

Allowance - A race in which all horses are allotted weight concessions or penalties depending on previous results (excluding Rated Races). Also refers to the amount of weight concession an horse receives in a race.
• Auction - A mechanism by which to sell horses to the highest bidder.
Carrots - A term coined by some players to try to overcome the ban on TTs in the Forums.
Challenger - Any horse deemed worthy by it's owner/trainer of racing at the very top level. Often misused to overhype an horse in the hope of inflating any possible sales price.
• Claiming Race - A race where each entrant is up for sale at a set price. 
• Classic - Any horse that is best suited to 1600/1800/2200m races or the races themselves. 
• Dumping - See Sandbagging
• EB race - Early Bird race. A race that is designated as a possibility for betting with partners Ladbrokes. Entries close 24hrs in advance and entrants may not be worked or tacked after 00:20 on the day of the race.
FUN - First Up Naked. The first time trials of an horse without tack. Almost entirely disappeared from usage since new horses could be trained up to 95% on the first day and also now come with a free pair of shoes.
• Gr1 race - A Stakes race intended for good G1 horses only although any horse may enter. 
• Gr2 race - A Stakes race restricted to G2 horses only. 
• Hands and fingers - See Carrots.
• Jockey Factor - Used to refer to the element of the random factor displayed by the jockeys in each race. For each race the jockey with the highest position in the Jockeys Table (see Races->Jockeys on site) in a race denotes that horse received the best random, the lowest placed jockey in the table denotes that horse received the worst random.
• Merry-Go-Round Race (or MGR race) - See Rated Race
• Naked - Any horse without tack. 
• Negativity - Much loved by renowned member of staff Mr. Edward Bell. Players are often accused of it just for disagreeing with those that run the site, irrespective of any merits their comments may have.
• Newbie - A term used to refer to owner/trainers not long on the site. 
• Non-graded race - A Stakes race that is open for entry to all horses on the site although are primarily used by mid-low class G1 horses. 
• Polos - See Carrots.
• Private Deal - A term used to denote that a sale price has been agreed for an horse prior to an Auction. As each lot in Auction is fully open to all interested parties these agreements are not exclusive contracts and as such should be honoured or not at each players discretion.
• Rated Race - A race in which all weights are calculated according to the respective ratings of each entrant (with the top-rated horse in the race receiving 140lbs) and are not known until the final field is declared. 
Sandbagging - The practise of running an horse in a race with the intention of not winning. 
• Shill Bidding - The practice of placing 'friendly' bids on an horse in Auction in an attempt to inflate the price. Very much frowned upon and instances should be reported immediately.
Sprinter - Any horse that is best suited to 1000/1200/1400m races. 
Stakes Race - Any race in the primary sphere of racing where horses try to progress through conditional races. 
Stayer - Any horse that is best suited to 2400/2850/3200m races. 
Supped - A term referring to the fact that an horse has had the Supplementary Fee paid in order to make it eligible for entry into top level races. 
WCD - A reference to World Challenge Day races, run at the end of every Season for both G1 and G2.
WFA - A reference to any Weight For Age race.
• 100% correct - A term used by the site owners to denote that a part of the system is in error but will never be formally acknowledged as such nor have any fix applied. 


Some conditions explained

• Age2-60lbs - Used in WFA (weight for age) races only and denotes that 2yos will receive an allowance of 60lbs.
• Age3-30lbs - Used in WFA (weight for age) races only and denotes that 3yos will receive an allowance of 20lbs.
• Age4+20lbs - Used in WFA (weight for age) races only and denotes that horses aged 4 or over will receive a penalty of 20lbs.
• Lbl-2lbs - Used in Allowance races only. The distance behind the winner of each of the last 5 results of Stakes Races or Claimers is averaged and for every whole length a 2lb allowance is received.
N3L - Used in Claimer races only. Race is restricted to horses with less than 3 wins in Stakes races (excl Claimers).
N8L - Used in Claimer races only. Race is restricted to horses with less than 8 wins in Stakes races (excl Claimers).
NWR-1lbs - Used in Allowance races only. Each race since a win (except Rated Races) will earn a 1lb allowance.
• Sex-30lbs - Stakes Race in which Fillies will receive an allowance of 30lbs.
W0+ - Stakes Race is open to all horses unless restricted purely to G2's. 
W0-2 - Stakes Race that is only open to horses with less than 3 wins in previous Stakes Races.
W1-3 - Stakes Race that is only open to horses that have previously achieved a win in either a Stakes Race or a Claimer and has not won more than 3 Stakes Races.
W2-4 - Stakes race that is only open to horses that have previously won at least 2 but not more than 4 Stakes Races. 
Win+1lbs - Stakes Race in which each previous win over the minimum requirement for the race incurs a 1lb penalty.
Win+2lbs - Stakes Race in which each previous win over the minimum requirement for the race incurs a 2lb penalty.
Win+6lbs - Stakes Race in which each previous win over the minimum requirement for the race incurs a 6lb penalty (up to a maximum of 20lbs).
