Da Furry Rodent (nibbles at ya)

You don't get nothing for nothing (or do ya ?)

There are actually very few fees associated with each horse. The majority of the costs of owning a horse are associated with racing it.

Stabling Fees

Each horse has a series of monthly periods after each of which a Stabling Fee becomes due. This Fee is currently set at $2 per period but can be offset completely if the horse races four or more times within that period. Each of the first four races during each period earns a discount.

Stabling periods start from when the horse is purchased except if purchased from Auction where the current Stabling period is inherited.

Supplementary Fee

This is an optional once-off fee which is only required if the owner wishes that horse to be able to compete in the top-class races on the site. By far the majority of Sales Ring horses are not worthy of competing at this level and as such do not require this fee to be paid. For those that are worthy there are two points at which this fee can be paid:

• At the time of purchase you can pay a fee of $5 per horse. As you have no way of knowing the ability of the horse you are purchasing until after this point it is highly likely that the majority of times this option is taken it will be a waste of money and as such is definately not recommended.

• At any point after the horse has been purchased you can pay a fee of $100 per horse. Although this may sound expensive it has to be remembered that if the horse is top-class paying this fee enables it to race in the big-money races where if it performs well it can recoup this fee many times over. This is the recommended option for paying this fee if it is felt the horse merits it.
